Streams in the Desert
While living in Israel for my studies, I got to know Marianna and her ministry Streams in the Desert. Marianna received the calling to care for the widows and orphans of Israel in the Negev. Now this involves not only families where 1 or both parents have died, but also families where a parent is absent for other reasons (due to divorce or just emotionally absent).
In 2010 Marianna asked me if I wanted to be a group leader during the 2nd summer camp they organized. I found it quite exciting, because my Hebrew was really not yet fluent, but I went and had a very challenging, but also fantastic and Spirit-filled week! This work with teens from broken families is close to my heart. It is reconciliation and human restoration on an individual level. The fact that Streams in the Desert has its home in the Negev desert is an added bonus for me: my heart is also in Israel in the Negev!
Over the years I have fulfilled various tasks: group leader, nurse, intercessor. The most special thing, which I have been privileged to experience, is the development over the years: children who were spiritually and emotionally orphaned grow up to become spiritual fathers and mothers for the next generation of children. It is a great blessing for me to be able to support this work with prayer, relationships and cooperating.
